21, of Baltimore; assigned to 1st Battalion, 3rd Marine Regiment, 3rd Marine Division, III Marine Expeditionary Force, Marine Corps Base Hawaii; killed Jan. 26 when the CH-53E helicopter in which he was riding crashed near Rutbah, Iraq. Twenty-nine Marines and one sailor also were killed.

El Arte Mixtlan. -Inspirados a través de las diversas expresiones del arte Mexicano antiguo, de los Olmecas, Mayas, Zapotecas, Toltecas, Mixtecas, Aztecas, etc. tres escultores autodidactas:
Julieta Rodríguez González, José Luis Varela Garduño y Juan Carlos Varela Garduño
conformaron y desarrollaron "El Arte Mixtlán".
Como eje central de su estilo artístico, crean esculturas de terracota, arte en su representación entera, que logran al modelar artesanalmente la noble arcilla Mexicana.
Esculturas que se esmaltan y hornean, y que durante su cocción, cristalizan; produciendo efectos cromáticos de gran originalidad y belleza. Sorprendente metamorfosis que convierte a cada obra en única e irrepetible.
Obras avaladas con la firma de su autor; que sin la utilización de moldes y su NO producción en serie, adquieren su certificado de origen: “Obra de arte únca de México”.
Actualmente la colección de Esculturas de El Arte Mixtlán esta compuesta por 46 obras, las cuales se han exhibido en diferentes Museos, Centros Culturales y Universidades de la República Mexicana.

who have developed the Mixtlán art.
The principal inspiration of this artistic style creates the terracotta sculptures in a style of its own and yet complete in itself that embodies this noble art with the use of Mexican clay.
These certified works, with the sculpture’s signature, are made without molds and their production is in a series which said certificate is stamped with “Original Mexican art work”
National News: At the present time the Mixtlán art collection comprises 46 sculptures which have been exhibited in different museums, cultural centers and universities in the Mexican Republic.
International: Julieta Rodríguez Gonzalez traveled to Madrid, Paris and Montreal, Canada to promote the Mixtlán art works.

Au Mexique à Tlaquepaque: (17-31 Août 2006) - El Arte Mixtlan.

Il s'agit pour ce groupe d'artistes de la région de Puebla de "rendre hommage aux artistes anonymes de la culture méso-américaine" en créant des œuvres inspirées des arts précolombiens. Les trois artistes présentent environ 5 œuvres, dont certaines pour la première fois, toutes de terre cuite émaillée travaillée à la main, sans moule, ornées d'ors et de marbres.
L'exposition se veut une relecture destinée à l'époque contemporaine des arts traditionnels de la céramique méso-américaine, qui, comme chacun sait, est l'une des plus fines du monde.
Les sculpteurs sont, Julieta Rodríguez González, José Luis Varela Garduño y Juan Carlos Varela Garduño, ils ont choisis de s'inspirer de thématiques et de styles olmèques, mayas, mixtèques et aztèques tout en développant une technique de cuisson qui leur est propre, nommé "l'art Mixtlan", qui rend chaque œuvre singulière.
L'exposition est à la fois un vibrant tribut à l'art de leurs ancêtres et une démonstration de l'esprit novateur de nouveaux artistes mexicains.
